  1. Jesus thanked God for hearing and answering Him
  2. Christ had already talked with the Father about this request. He didn’t with until he was there at the graveside.
  3. He prayed openly so that those around Him might believe on Him. At times we need to not be afraid to openly pray and share our requests with both believers and unbelievers.

    1. It convicts unbelievers John 11:45 (NIV)

This prayer has seven petitions

  1. That Jesus may be glorified as the Son who has glorified the Father v. 1
  2. For the restoration of His eternal glory v. 5
  3. For safety of His believers from v.15
    1. The world
    1. From the Evil One
  4. For the sanctification of believers v. 17
  5. For the spiritual unity of the believers v.21-23
  6. That the world might believe v. 21
  7. That believers may be with Christ in heaven to behold and share in His glory v. 24

Prayers for Wisdom and ___________

The Garden of Gethsemane

  • It was a lonely prayer.
  • It was a Son’s Prayer (child’s prayer)
  • It was a prayer of resignation – a yielding To the Father’s will.
